IGNORE MESSAGES in Messenger - now called RESTRICT
Facebook announced a significant update to its Messenger platform recently, introducing a feature that allows users to effectively ignore messages without the sender being made aware. This new functionality, dubbed "RESTRICT," helps users exercise more control over their interactions on the platform.
The RESTRICT feature works by automatically moving messages from restricted contacts to the message request folder. This action prevents the sender from seeing when their messages have been delivered or read. In addition, restricted users will not be able to see when the recipient is active on Messenger or if their messages have been read.
This update comes as part of Facebook's ongoing efforts to increase user privacy and safety on its platform. By giving users the ability to control their interactions more effectively, Facebook aims to create a safer and more positive environment for its users.
Users can simply access the RESTRICT feature by tapping on the name of the contact they wish to restrict and selecting the "RESTRICT" option from the menu that appears. This will immediately move all future messages from that contact to the message request folder, keeping the main chat list clutter-free.
Overall, the introduction of the RESTRICT feature in Messenger represents a significant step forward in empowering users to manage their interactions more effectively and enhance their overall messaging experience on the platform. With this update, Facebook continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing a secure and user-friendly social networking environment for its billions of users worldwide.
